Essilor - the world leader for corrective lenses - acquired Wanxin Optical, based in Danyang (China).
The city of Danyang expressed its interest in becoming the "Optics Valley" of Asia. Therefore Essilor has agreed with the city to conduct a feasibility study for the creation of a Museum dedicated to Optics.
At the same time, this project is part of Essilor's objective to:
→ develop a value-added market
→ increase its market share
→ develop a broad screening program targeted at the huge Chinese market, in order to detect and correct eyesight disorders, (including shortsightedness, more developed in China due to physiological reasons)
→ leverage its significant historical heritage
→ put into action its famous signature line "seeing the world better"
In order to conduct this feasibility study and optimize it for its presentation to Danyang city, Essilor expressed its desire to partner with a consulting firm that would be able to define both a cultural and museographical engineering methodology and to suggest one or more possible concepts for the museum, while being able to adapt to the specific requirements of a project conducted in China.
Essilor has therefore launched a contest with several agencies in order to get ready for the launching of its project in connection with the local context and the evolution of its relationships with Danyang city.
